Deep Zoom image pyramids
Deep Zoom is a coordinate- and level-based image pyramid, not a thumbnail. The page shows a normal preview from the same input; the pyramid archive is not itself a single image for direct display.
Preview and pyramid configuration
Section titled “Preview and pyramid configuration”The sharp 0.35.5 reference implementation produces a 960 × 640 preview plus an .szi archive using Deep Zoom layout, 256-pixel tiles, one-pixel overlap, and a ZIP container. The archive is verified as ZIP data with its descriptor, tile properties, and tile hierarchy.

Generated with sharp 0.35.5 / libvips 8.18.7.
No corresponding implementation: govips v2.19.0 has no public high-level Deep Zoom / dzsave API.await sharp('input.jpg').tile({ layout: 'dz', container: 'zip', size: 256, overlap: 1 }).toFile('pyramid.szi');No corresponding implementation: This topic does not maintain a pyvips Deep Zoom comparison implementation.vips dzsave input.jpg pyramid.szi --layout dz --container zip --tile-size 256 --overlap 1 --suffix '.jpeg[Q=82]'Binding boundaries and deployment
Section titled “Binding boundaries and deployment”sharp is the reference implementation; CLI dzsave has also been executed and verified. The govips and pyvips tabs contain no corresponding implementation because govips v2.19.0 has no public high-level dzsave wrapper, and this handbook does not turn internal generated functions or unmaintained routes into public API recommendations. Deploy the .szi for a tile viewer (such as OpenSeadragon) to read, or unpack it into the .dzi descriptor and tile directory required by that viewer.
